In Polynesian tattooing, a signature is not limited to style.
At Mana’o Tattoo Studio Tahiti, each artist also has their own signature symbol.
A discreet personal mark which can be incorporated into a Polynesian creation upon request.
This symbol is neither decorative nor standardized.
It is integrated with respect for the structure, balance, and flow of the tattoo on the body.
It is never imposed.
It is offered.
Beyond this symbol, each artist develops over time a distinct visual language :
a way of composing, organizing patterns, and building a piece as a whole.
These signatures, whether visible or more subtle, exist within a shared framework :
a common level of discipline, a respect for Polynesian tattoo structures, and a precise attention to placement.
The Artist’s Mark
Like a painter signing a canvas, the artist’s mark identifies the hand behind the work.
This approach was initiated at Mana’o Tattoo Tahiti by Manu Farrarons around 2008, following requests from certain clients who wished to carry, alongside their tattoo, a discreet yet recognizable trace of the artist who created it.
Since then, Mana’o has remained the first and only Polynesian tattoo atelier to have developed and openly embraced this signature-based approach as a true extension of the artistic process and identity of the artist.
This signature-symbol may be discreetly integrated into the composition of the tattoo, or placed beside the piece as a signature.
The artist’s motif always remains subtle and respectful of the design, integrated with balance so as never to disturb the harmony of the tattoo.
Clients who wish to wear their artist’s signature may request it.
This approach remains exclusive to Mana’o Tattoo Studio Tahiti.

This symbol represents the philosophy of the studio : respect for Polynesian culture, artistic integrity, and a commitment to timeless work.
The Mana’o mark is not intended to dominate the piece.
It exists as a quiet acknowledgment that the tattoo was created within the Mana’o atelier, according to the highest standards of the art.
A Trace of Origin
Together, the artist’s signature and the atelier mark create a trace of origin.
A discreet and strong connection between the artwork, the artist who created it, and the place where it came to life.
Over time, these small marks become part of the story each tattoo carries.
